What is the water cycle good for?

 To start off lesson 2, the children recapped what a mountain is and named any of the features. Some great remembering from last lesson and they even named all 8 features. 

Today, the children identified how water affects their lives. They came up with some great ideas, such as showers, baths, brushing teeth, washing up, swimming as well as giving water to their pets. 

Then, the children had to estimate the average amount of water that was used for certain activities in litres. See the attached table. They loved this, however, there are some children who think they use 10 times more water in a shower than a bath! I wouldn’t want to pay your water bill. 

Finally, they looked at how the water cycle works and then they discussed what would happen if there was no evaporation. Some fantastic answers, like flooding, plants and animals would die, there would be no clouds.
