What are the features of a river and how does it change its shape?

The lesson started like any other lesson recapping their previous about the different parts of the Water Cycle and why water is important to us.

At the beginning of the lesson the children  came up with a definition for a river. They then looked at what we would see on a river and how man uses it.

They then watched a clip where three children took them on a journey from the source to the mouth. They then recapped these and either drew a map or labelled a diagram. Finally, they identified how rivers can change shape through erosion and deposition. We used the image of a sandcastle being knocked down by the sea to help the children understand how sand, rocks are moved by water.

Well done year 4.
