Science - Where does my food go?

LO: I can describe the simple functions of the basic parts of the digestive system

Today we enjoyed our first Year 4 lesson in the Phiz lab. We began by thinking back to Year 3 and Year 2, retrieving what we knew about Rocks and Habitats. After a quick recap, we began to think about our new unit of learning, 'Our Digestive System'. First, we had a go at drawing what we thought happened between our mouths and our bottoms, and Mrs Loizos was really proud of some of our knowledge already!

We then had a little look at an Explorify challenge, discussing with each other, which we thought was the odd one out, between a tooth, a heart, and our intestines. After some good debate, we had to explain our choice with scientific evidence, before some of us took on Mrs Loizos' challenge and had to try doing the same for another one!

Finally, we looked at all of the different parts of our digestive system, looking at their names and functions.

Next week, we will be modelling each of the parts of the digestive system and their functions by making our own poo!
