Science - What does my digestive system do?
Today we built on our learning from last lesson, recapping the different organs of our digestive system, and discussing how we define the word 'organ'. We agreed that an organ is 'a part of our body that is responsible for, or which carries out a special job' and that organs work together to create organ systems.
We used a card sort to match organ to function, and location, before reading a chapter of Adam Kay's book 'Kay's Anatomy' all about 'Guts'. We learned that our digestive system is around 9 metres long and that we could fill up a water bottle with saliva every day!
Now we know the functions, we are excited about making poo in our next lesson, which will be two weeks time, due to the additional bank holiday for the Queen's funeral.
